It comes with an automatic profilling system so that you can configure for each specific game or controller. On This Page :ĭS4Windows is an open source application that helps you obtain the best experience while using supported gamepads on your computer. Here, MiniTool Partition Wizard tells you the prerequisites that your PC should meet before starting the DS4 Windows download process and links for 32 and 64 bit PCs. Registering your controller and using big picture mode when you want to play ds1 or 2 should fix the problem. If you are going to perform aDS4Windows download process, this post is what you need. It doesnt change anything tonthe solution, but i thought id better give acurate info. After that i was able to play the game with and without big picture mode. I had the spinning bug with dark souls 2, which i solved by registering my controller to steam. Either way, I'll post back here my are you using your DS4 wired and in Big Picture Mode as Scaredy Cat said?Īnd do you have Windows 10 as your operating system? The more information you can provide on any steps you've done so far can help us help you faster. But when I get a chance, I'll test mine out wired with BPM to see if I can get it going to help the OP (unless it gets resolved by then). However, I use mine wirelessly for most games so I have to use DS4Windows. I know that for more recent games, they have native DS4 support to where you don't even need to use the Steam support (DS3 and a lot of Ubisoft games do now). But BPM doesn't seem needed for all games as you said, DS2 (but maybe DS2 has Dinput support, I haven't tried it yet). Yeah Big Picture Mode seems to be necessary for some of the older games (before developers started adding all controller support recently). Id make a screenshot of where i registered my controller in steam, but im on the mobile app as well right now. Havent done a lot of testing with that.Īnyway, if you run windows 10, have a ds4 controller and a datacable, you shouldnbe able to run it. Latest version of steam as well.īig picture mode seemed to be important to ds1, though i seem to be able to play ds2 with the same controller without it enabled. I have it wired to my computer with a datacable, latest version of windows 10. Then again, was there a recent update to Windows 10 and or Steam DS4 support? I haven't been on my PC in a couple weeks to game (mobile app now). But as I said, I've only done limited testing on this and going off of what I've read on the Steam forums and lately, this forum pretty much has a new DS4 controller thread daily now. I have Windows 10 as well and it didn't work for me when Steam first implemented it's "native" DS4 support (for Xinput only games). Then again, was there a recent update to Windows 10 and/or Steam DS4 support? I haven't been on my PC in a couple weeks to game (mobile app now). Just out of curiosity, are you using your DS4 wired or wirelessly? And the things I've read about using the Steam DS4 support for DS1 has been stuff like camera spinning uncontrollably or incorrect button prompts. Now I haven't tested it in Big Picture Mode though because I play the game at 4k and BPM only allows 1080p, unless that's changed as well. But as I said, I've only done limited testing on this and going off of what I've read on the Steam forums and lately, this forum pretty much has a new DS4 controller issues thread daily now. I run windows 10 though, perhaps tortino doesnt? Nope, he is using DS4 Oh? For me i can use my ps4 controller without the use of external software. I run windows 10 though, perhaps tortino doesnt? I read somewhere that windows 10 supports dualshock4 controllers. I've also heard to stay away from MotionJoy, I think it's the one that if you install it, it's very hard to completely remove and it will conflict with these other 3rd party controller emulators. But I know people have success with either x360ce or InputMapper. Personally, I use DS4Windows and can help you get that going if you want for wired or wireless connection. I've also read (and done limited testing myself), that the Steam native DS4 support just doesn't play nice with some games, and Dark Souls 1 is one of them. Originally posted by LedZepphead:Dark Souls 1 only supports Xinput controllers (like Xbox), to use the DS4 controller (which uses Dinput) with this game you need to use a 3rd party program like DS4Windows, x360ce or InputMapper.Īs far as I know, the way the Steam BPM DS4 "native" controller support works for games that don't have Dinput support is that you need to make your own or use an already created profile for each different game the same way it does for Valves Steam controller.
